This picture is an experiment and is based on a dream I had the other night. The background is actually a picture of the Scottsdale Fashion Square. The foreground is something I drew. I did minor touchups and layer masks to get it to look like one picture.
The Protyans were highly interested in the development of the other, lesser, organic beings that plagued Splithia. How would they adapt to a liquid environment? They wondered this and decided to try it out on a local mall. The computer beings spread their conciousness over the random shoppers; convincing them that the spacious room would soon fill with liquid. The shoppers took what they were told and accepted it. They believed whatever the Protyans told them. One telluridyan, however, was not convinced! "We can't live underwater!" she explained to everyone, "Why aren't you listening to me?! We need to get outta here!" The Protyans shut the telluridyan up by causing her to choke for a few seconds. They filled the mall with the clear fluid, which was very similar to water. Anyone who accepted that it was normal was not affected, they went about their daily business as normal. However! There was always that pesky one percent that did NOT accept what the Protyans told them. They were able to discern their silent propaganda from their own independent thoughts. They were never fooled.... This one percent of all creatures were affected by the changes the Protyans made. This telluridyan was drowning! The Protyans were annoyed by the fact that there was a one percent that could never be decieved by hypnosis....but they realized that if they died, other experiments would fail in later years. THat's why every member of this group was fitted with a star shaped circlet. This was a curious type of machinery that sent a strong signal to the individual's brain; telling them that this change was ok and they could survive. THey still weren't fooled, but they could survive. Once applied to the telluridyan's head, the circlet shrank and became well fitted to her head. The telluridyan took a deep breath and looked briefly up into the blinding afternoon sun before swimming about the mall; powering herself around with her four wings. Now, she seemed more intrigued by the presence of liquid rather than frightened.
The sun really was there in the skylight, but I made it much brighter. It was even brighter than that in my dream. I couldn't see anything except the circlet for awhile.
