Tempus and Fugit reached Sleepy Island, after a long walk along the cobblestone paths that wandered throughout the land of Mirrowater.  The island was a welcome break in the vast, watery landscape.  It consisted of jagged black rocks surrounding a fertile, green crater.  The interior of the island was an overgrown knot of hundreds of plant species.
A wayfarer named Mr. Denki had settled there with his companion Morris and turned the island into a fruit farm.  They were very skilled at their trade and made quite a good living off their produce.  Fruits and vegetables were hard to come by in Mirrorwater.
The two time cloaked wayfarers fluttered up to the island.
It was oddly quiet that day...usually, Denki's chickens could be heard clucking away and various birds sang.  Morris was known to be a noisy wayfarer, too.
"Hello?" Tempus called, "Mr. Denki?"
The gate to his sprawling garden was open...so they went in.
Inside, sounds seemed dampened.  It was probably the vines, which had grown so thick around fences and shades that they formed a ceiling.  Orchids and lilies bloomed along the sides of the flagstone path that led into the garden.  It was beautiful, but something seemed out of place...Tempus and Fugit couldn't quite place a wingtip on it.
Tempus finally pointed out something.
"Fugit, does this garden look...I don't know, dirtier to you?"
Tempus looked around and sure enough, dirt was scattered over the path and some of the flowers were trampled.  It looked like a few plants were pulled up or gnawed on.
"But Mr. Denki always keeps this place in ship shape..." Tempus replied, "Do you think he got in a tangle with Arsenians?"
"We haven't seen those guys around in some time..." Fugit added, confused, "It's unlikely."
Tempus and Fugit hurried into the garden, finding it more and more disheveled.  Trees had bark peeled right off...fruit had been thrown around and splattered all over the ground and walls of the neighboring stone manor.
A murmuring was heard from a patch of furrows.
A cerulean colored wayfarer knelt down next to a row of tomato plants, muttering to himself angrily.  He clawed at the ground furiously with what looked like gardening tools.
"Oh good...you're here," Tempus said, approaching him, "We were worried Arsenians came or something.  Hey, did a deer get in your garden?"
Mr. Denki didn't turn around.  He chimed to himself, but he sounded distorted and flat...like a church bell that had been damaged badly.
Fugit hung back, feeling a sense of dread.
"Tempus...maybe we should go..."
"No, I think what we brought will cheer him up."
Mr. Denki still didn't respond.  He pulled up a tomato plant and threw it over his shoulder.
Fugit back away, feeling his foot land on something soft...  He looked down and felt sick.
The remains of a white cloaked wayfarer were scattered along the back wall, partially buried in the disturbed soil.  It looked like Morris...  Yes, it was him...his frightened face still peered up from the soil, looking at his body which lay a few yards away.  Fugit thought it was his body...it was so shredded and dismembered that it could have been a dead deer covered in bits of fabric.
"Tempus...!" Fugit began, too frightened to even scream.
"What is it...WHA??" Tempus turned and saw the mutilated form.
"Gah!" Mr. Denki growled, turning around at last.
He got up, not even bothering to dust the dirt off his uneven, deformed claws.  His head tilted to one side as he looked at his guests, not recognizing them.  He bared his teeth in an unusually wide, jagged mouthed evil grin.  His eyes were red instead of the typical white.  From his toothy maw dripped a thick white foam.
Tempus and Fugit wasted no time.  They turned and ran for the exit, they desperately ran for any place they could take off into the sky.
"HIIIIiiiiiiiIIIIIINNNNNNGHHG!!" Mr. Denki chimed in a loud, dissonant voice.
He bolted after Tempus and Fugit, running on his clawed cloak tips and feet like an animal.  He leaped and sank his claws into Tempus' leg.  He seized Tempus' thigh in his teeth.
Tempus screamed as he toppled over, smacking Denki over and over.
Fugit grabbed a nearby shovel and hit Denki hard on the head.  The blue cloaked wayfarer grunted and let go.  He immediately turned and attacked the shovel, biting and struggling with it like it were a live animal.
Tempus limped away with Fugit's help.  They slammed the gate behind them and hurried away from the island.
With much effort, Tempus took to the sky.  Fugit fluttered beside him, chirping to keep him aloft.
When they felt they were a safe distance from the island, they landed on a wide cobblestone path.  Tempus yelped with pain and flopped over.
Fugit landed beside him and examined his wound.
It was a very deep bite...it didn't even look like something another wayfarer should be able to do...it was more like something a wolf would do.
"It, it'll be okay..." Fugit tried to assure his twin brother, "I'll help you home and we'll clean it up."
He helped Tempus up and let him lean on him as they slowly headed home.  It was a painstakingly slow journey...
"Wh, why would Mr. Denki do that to me...why would he, do you think he tore up his companion?" Tempus asked in a strained voice, "Did he go crazy?  Blue light, maybe?"
"No..." Fugit replied, "This was something else...maybe he's possessed."
Suddenly, a massive shape dropped out of the sky and landed bottom side down in the water next to them...about thirty meters away.  It looked like another ahrehk'taur...only this one was much larger.
"Please...we don't mean harm...we're just trying to get home."
"Do not panic, but I am taking you with me.  You may have been infected!  I repeat, do not panic, I am Aerovayne of the Psychedelic Emergency Response Force!" the ahrehk'taur boomed.
Without another word, he scooped up both wayfarers and bolted away into the cloudy sky.
The Psychedelic Emergency Response Force is a group of ahrehk'taur and various other species medics that go around to areas that have wars, disease, and disasters and heal the sick and wounded. Tempus doesn't know it, but he's been infected with demi-amorphic rabies and needs a vaccine ASAP.
