Wayfarer Reference

Description

Now they have their own Splithian reference :D I used to do this a lot with Kirby characters.

"wayfarers"
(Demi-amorphicus textilus)

The wayfarers are an extra-Splithian species originating from a harsh desert planet. Not much is known about them because most of them were killed off in a brutal civil war. At one time, their species lived in complex cities and had an incredible level of technology that was mainly controlled through their own energy.

The most noticeable feature on a wayfaryan is the cloak and scarf. Upon closer inspection, one would find that the cloak is actually attached to the body and so is the scarf. Also, the scarf appears to grow as the wayfaryan grows older and consumes the proper materials. Around the head and neck area are follicles that grow fine hairs in a criss-cross pattern. These weave together to form a light cloth. The "cloak" exterior on a wayfaryan is believed to be a defense against the harsh sun and wind driven sand present in their native environment. The scarf grows in a similar manner, but faster and longer. Unlike the cloak, the scarf has a high number of nerves and energy fibers. The energy fibers absorb and release energy like those in an ahrehk'taur, allowing the wayfarer to fly. The scarf and cloak both contain small amounts of a high energy, glowing substance called ichor. Ichor carries oxygen just like blood, but it also carries energy to the wayfarer's cloth extremities. When warm and well charged, the ichor gives off light. Ichor is also stimulated by other energy sources and by the wayfarer being happy. When energy is used in high amounts, it is shed in a stream of sparks. If a wayfarer's cloth parts are damaged, they leak ichor, usually resulting in reddish glowing trails and sparks.
The markings on a wayfarer remain a mystery to Splithians. Wayfarers born on their homeworld have boxy patterns similar to their written language while Splithian born wayfarers have patterns with more curved lines. Native born wayfarers start life with a red colored cloak. When they reach a certain age, their cloak becomes white. Different colored wayfarers are very rare, but have been seen.

Diet: wayfarer mainly consume raw energy and various plants. They are not known to eat a lot of meat. Their favorite solid foods are certain plant petals, silk, and feather fibers, though they are also fond of various fruit and vegetables. Wayfarers are very light eaters and can survive many months without food, though they prefer to eat regularly. They do not require a lot of water to survive since their home world is very dry. Wayfarers do not have the ability to store fat and burn excess energy off in a glowing display of light similar to an ahrehk’taur. Because of their inability to store fat, they have a very difficult time in colder climates and very often die of hypothermia.

Terrain: Wayfarers are skilled at moving in sand. They have the ability to "surf" along sloped areas and can run faster in deep, soft sand than most creatures. To get up to the top of sand dunes, they will usually fly for a short distance, then surf down the other side. Wayfarers are known for their graceful flight ability, which is limited to how much energy they can hold in their scarf-antenna. They flap their cloak in order to gain altitude. Even without ample energy, they are still able to spread their "wings" and glide.

Call: Wayfarers can learn to speak Splithian, but their native language is a series of chirps and chiming sounds. Their ancient written language consists of boxy glyphs that Splithians have yet to figure out.

Relatives: Splithian astrobiologists believe wayfarers are related to jabberwocks and mornglorius. They are part of the Demi-amorphicus phylum because their ability to harness and use energy and the presence of ichor in their systems. Jabberwocks and mornglorius have these traits, but their energy is used to transform and attack, respectively. Wayfarers can use harnessed energy to attack, but they typically require training to do so.

Other Names: Wayfarers go by many names in Splithia since they have no name of their own. They are also called desert imps, journey imps, sand sprites, and lesser jabberwocks.

Natural Enemies: From what Splithian astrobiologists gather, wayfarers had no natural enemies on their planet (the war machines are not natural). Because of this, wayfarers have not evolved any sort of defense. They easily fall prey to myritrooliie, diafrillans, rogue telluridyans, and hellishes. Arsenian highly value wayfarer cloth and will hunt them for it. They also value wayfarers as slaves. When travelling in Splithia, wayfarers often gather around ahrehk’taurs to feed on runoff energy and for protection.

By the way, these guys do not belong to me. Thought I'd mention that, too. They belong to That Game Company.

That is amazing. So much character and data pulled from such a vague image.
